Small and medium-sized enterprises in South Korea are manufacturing eco-friendly disinfectant and sterilizer that can remove 99.99% of COVID-19. Seems Bionics, located in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, announced that its product, Vi-trap Liquid, demonstrated more than 99.99% of virus-killing efficacy in a COVID-19 sterilization test.This test was conducted from May 28 to June 2, 2020, in cooperation with KR Biotech, a vaccine and antiviral drug research and development company. After exposing COVID-19 samples to Vi-trap Liquid at room temperature, results showed that the virus decreased by more than 99.99%.
Vi-trap Liquid is a 5.0-6.5 pH slightly acidic hypochlorous acid water that is environmentally friendly and has stronger sterilization and deodorization effects than products that use acidic chlorine or ozone water.While existing products generate a strong disinfectant odor and carcinogens such as trihalomethane or bromate, slightly Acidic Hypochlorous acid is safe enough to be designated as a food additive and harmless to the human body, with almost no chlorine gas generated. In particular, there is no residual chlorine, as it is converted into water during sterilization after contact with bacteria and other organic matter.
The sterilization and deodorization effect has already been proven in an US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) test from 2018. As a result of the testing, nine bacteria, including Escherichia coli, salmonella, and pneumonia streptococcus, displayed a sterilization effect of more than 99.99%.Currently, Seems Bionics is releasing various types of Vi-trap Liquid products. The spray product, which is portable and easy to use anytime, anywhere, is sold in 70ml and 500ml containers. In addition, Seems Bionics is introducing a product with a capacity of one-liter that can be refilled, as well as products 10- and 20-liter capacities for control purposes.
A slightly acidic hypochlorous acid water generator (Vi-trap) is also on the market, suitable for facilities where cleaning and disinfection are performed more frequently, such as shopping malls, hotels, schools, hospitals, sports centers, large restaurants, amusement parks, and movie theaters. This product is currently being exported to Japan and China.
Seems Bionics is a little-noted champion that produces water-related products. Since its establishment in 2006, it has developed oxygen water purifiers, hydrogen water purifiers, hydrogen water vending machines, slightly acidic hypochlorous acid water generators, and electrolyzed water machines and has been well received in domestic and foreign water purifier and electrolyzer markets such as Japan and China.
